The wind was kicking up pretty good by this time. Mom called, am I ready to go? OH you know I'm ready to go. We live in the middle of the forest. It's a small forest. It's my forest. Our house is surrounded by huge evergreens and cotton woods. Oh my gosh... get me out of here.Â
It wasn't too long ago, during one of our little wind storms that we lost 8 evergreens... I was home alone with the kids. We couldn't get out of dodge because a humongous tree had fallen accross the driveway. We heard every single tree fall, crashing through the tree branches... shaking the ground when they landed. Let me tell ya, I'm ready to go when the weatherman mentions there may be a wind storm. To be honest, I'm ready to move to the middle of a 10 acre parking lot, if it gets me out of this forest during a windstorm.
So we were off... we went to our favorite coffee shop... not Starbucks. Timing is everything. I was ordering my coffee when the power went off. Oh please... say it isn't so.  A moment later, there was power! I paid for the coffee.  The lights blinked. They blinked again... then they were off. Of course we were at a coffee shop where the pots don't work without power. HUH?! That's right. You can't get the coffee out of the pot without a power supply. Oooooh... pulleeeeeeze.... it's late afternoon by now, and I still haven't had my morning cup of joe!
So... let's brief this up a bit. Power was out all over town. No stop lights. Traffic was a nightmare. We had places to be... T-man's open house, Kevin had a class, and the boys had swimming. Oh it wasn't pretty around town.
I finally got a cup of hot coffee (more like 4 or 5 cups) and Kevin got a hot meal at about 9:00 last night. The boys were headed home. When they got home, they were going to call to let us know if we had power. We kept waiting for a phone call... I tried to call them, no answer. Eventually they called us to tell us about this.....
Â

So close to home...
The boys are okay. The truck will need some work done.
I went out for coffee bright and early this morning. The power lines down in my yard were fixed this afternoon. All is well in my little world.Â

So glad that everything is better today. What an aweful day! And NO COFFEE? Glad everyone was okay with the pickup incident.
When I saw the picture, I gasped, before I realized it wasn't serious, just off the road. I'm glad nobody got hurt. That must have been worrisome, waiting for a call, waiting for a call. And then finally getting a call and hearing about that? Once again, I'm glad everybody was safe and nothing injurious happened. God at work.
Oh, I love storms... it might not be quite that way if our house was surrounded by trees, though!
Yikes!! That is some scary pictures! I am so glad that the boys are okay! That is the last kind of phone call you want to get. Im so glad that you were able to get some caffeine in ya before the night was through....lol
It was rather scary looking as we drove up and saw how deep that ditch is. Hopefully Brandon gets his truck back from the shop this week.
