My boys are hard workers... they've been so helpful with this whole project. We've been using our bathroom off of Brandon's bedroom as a storage unit for the past couple of years. Why oh why did we do that?!? Well, we emptied it out 100% then the boys went to work. I did my part by sorting and flinging. Really flinging most of the stuff I had in there.  A couple of the walls needed some repair, so the boys did the repairs, then it was time to paint. Since this is Brandon's bathroom we let him chose the colors. It's Blue. Really, really, really blue. I love it!
While Brandon was working on his bathroom, Drew went to work on our side porch. It's the one off the laundry room. It was in great need of repair. We haven't used it in quite some time because it was dangerous. I love it that my boys are take charge kind of guys when they need to be. Drew went to town, bought the lumber and supplies, then he came home and built a very nice porch.
I decided to get rid of a few of Andrea's things from when she was a little girl. I'm telling ya what, I have a hard time letting go of some of the things my kids used when they were younger.  Her bedding was so cute and girly, but more than that... it was my little girls. I know, I have issues with letting go. What can I say?
I can't keep everything, right? So all of her set was washed and folded neatly into bags, then DH took it all to the homeless shelter. He came back and told me how thrilled the woman behind the desk was when she saw those cute comforters and sheets. That got me motivated to give away more stuff. I had a huge pile of jeans stored. WHY... I ask myself once again, why oh why?!! Because I sell on ebay. Yeah. I haven't listed anything in a long time. I talked it over with the boys. Mainly because I needed the little push to do it. Okay. I needed the big push to do it. We made the decision to give all the jeans to the homeless shelter.
There are a lot of homeless kids. Who knew? I didn't realize there were so many homeless kids in our area. I'm glad we decided to give the jeans to the shelter. They wash them, then hang them in a room so the homeless can come in and shop. There were about 45 pair of jeans. Many in boys sizes.  Some were good brands, some weren't such good brands, but all were in excellent to new condition. T-man went with us to drop them off. I hope it was a good learning experience for him. We've decided all of our used clothing and bedding from here on out will go to the shelter instead of the 2nd hand store.
We have a long way to go, but this was a good week!

Good for you!!! Seriously impressed!! I'm not a collectore at all...Im a tosser!!! hehehe I can handle living around too much stuff or I feel like I cant think. The downside is that Im not good about keeping things that should be sentimental. So I need to work on that....lol
Okay I must have been on another blog this whole time..."Where have I been?" hahaha This one is very upbeat too. You know what you are doing with this blog design stuff!
Good for you. You've got me motivated. My problem is not keeping sentimental stuff, just not getting it to the 2nd hand store. It sets in its bags and sits, and sits, and once a year I get it to the 2nd hand store.
Wow! Sounds like you've been doing a lot. I hadn't read your last couple of blog posts. I briefly thought it might be "Son In Law" but I wasn't sure. I knew DH stood for husband, but I didn't know it was "Dear Husband". Thanks for cluing me in! I don't know if we even have a homeless shelter here. Or anywhere that you can donate for the homeless. If we did, though, that would be good. As Mom said, we have lots and lots of stuff. Right now, it's setting in "the trailer" which is Dad's semi trailer! Pretty soon, somebody's going to want to buy the trailer - then what will we do with the stuff? Make our "annual trip" to Goodwill!
By the way, I was going to put several "LOL's" in there, but forgot!!!
I had never thought of giving my things to the homeless shelter. Good for you . It is hard to get rid of things sometimes that seem to have so much sentimental value.
And Hi to you to. The kids seemed to be having a great time at the coast!
I know what you mean about the kids' things from when they were little. I have boxed up some of their cutest stuffed toys, some of their classic toys, and the best of their books, and I'm saving them for my grandkids. If I don't ever have grandkids, well -- I guess I'm just saving them because they're sweet.

Wow, thank you all for all the great comments!
Trina, thanks! I am learning to toss. I can't think around all this clutter either. UGH! As far as the blog, thanks, I've been blogging for a few years. I moved to this one back around the beginning of this year.
Gale, you know, if I keep bags around it always ends up back in the house. Not necessarily by me... my mom is awful about going through and convincine me I need this or that. I'm trying to get my stuff to the 2nd hand store the day I sort it. BTW, I guess Brandon gave you the message LOL He said it was a lot of fun!
Sabriena, I donate my things to the goodwill, they help people too.
Marisela, I think I attach too much sentimental value to things. I'm learning to take pictures of things and then toss the thing out.
Genevieve, I have saved the best of their cute things to hand off to them as the grand babies come along. If the kids get rid of it, I just don't even want to know LOL
I'll try to make it around to everyone's blogs later today or tomorrow. Thanks!
I am totally inspired to go do some sorting and flinging myself today!
