Homekeeping Goals - Sorting and Flinging

Part of the time the kids were here, they were helping us sort and fling. The first couple weeks we were sorting, flinging, packing, and cleaning up my FIL's place. There is so much to do after a loved one dies, it almost doesn't seem fair, but then again,  it's all part of the closure of it all. The day Kevin turned in the keys to the apartment... that was a day to remember. The day he closed his dad's checking account is another day... and the day he takes his dad's name off the legal papers for the church... that will be one more day of closure. The head stone isn't on the grave yet. They said it could take a few more weeks.

Remember, in the past I said I have a clutter problem? LOL Way back when... there is a post or two about my clutter problem. Well, I've been working on getting rid of the clutter, but there was still a lot to do when the kids got home. While the kids were here, we had a lot of sorting and flinging to do.

In the past couple months we've made several trips to the 2nd hand stores, the mission, and to the dump. We have a lot less clutter than we did 6 months ago. And even with all the kids help, sorting and flinging, while they were here... I still have a long way to go.  We have it narrowed down to 8 boxes of stuff in the family room, and a couple of closets I need to sort here at home. Wow! I can't believe I got rid of so much stuff.

Somewhere around the 10th of December, we decided we couldn't get through all of my FIL's stuff and be ready for Christmas, so we rented a small storage unit. It's not full! Oh wow! I'm impressed.... we have a small storage unit and it's not packed full!

So... guess what is on my to-do list for January. Yup. I'm sorting and flinging. I'm going to set a reasonable goal. I want to be done with the storage unit and turn in the keys by the end of the month. Here at home, I want to have all my excess junk gone, and empty all the boxes of junk by the end of February.

I want every single closet empty of excess clutter by the end of March. All that and keep up with the daily homemaking duties, such as laundry, cooking, cleaning toilets, and dusting. Oh joy. Can you feel my joy?

So there you have it... my homemaking goals for January, February, and March.
