I’ve been tagged by Kim, so here are my 8 Things meme.
Â
Rules: 1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts. 2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves. 3. People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules. 4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and that they should read your blog.
Â
One:
I’m a morning person. I love getting up before the break of dawn, getting my chores done. Once chores are finished, or at least partially finished, I can get online for a few minutes, then I can enjoy sitting on my deck with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise.
Â
Two:
I was raised on a small farm, way out in the country, in the foothills of the mountains. We raised beef cattle. Betsy was the first cow Dad brought to the farm. I can remember going to the auction and Mom and Dad bidding on her. She was a beautiful hereford cow. I loved her from the moment I saw her. We had her for years, as she was mommy to many. I always thought I’d raise my kids on a farm. That didn’t happen. We’ve had a couple of dogs, cats, and fish through the years, but never a cow. Now that the kids are grown up and we are about to be empty nesters, DH and I talk about moving out to the farm, planting a big garden, and buying a few head of beef.  It’s just talk. I can’t imagine DH as a farmer boy. LOL!!
Â
Three:
If I didn’t have children and a few other really big ‘ifs’ in my life, I would live in downtown Chicago. I wouldn’t own a car and I’d be happy not owning a car. I love the downtown city life in Chicago. There are plenty of jazz lounges, city parks, art museums,  and fun dining establishments all within walking distance of the apartment I have in mind.
Â
Four:
I hated my hair when I was a kid. It was hard to manage, always tangled, and kinky curly! Now that I’m an adult, I like my curls. I don’t always have them tamed… LOL! But I like my long ringlets.
Â
Five:
I’m a collector. I admit it. I have too much junk. I’ve gone to clutter’s anonymous in the past. The 12 step program helped me so much, I don’t know why I don’t go anymore. Okay, it’s not like we have trails through the house, but we definitely have too much stuff. My closets are so packed I can’t stuff another item into them. We’ve been sorting and flinging this week. I have wide open spaces. I’m talking clear-I-can-see-the-floor space! Clear tables, clear countertops, and I still have a couple of clear drawers from the last time I was sorting and flinging. I do see light at the end of this tunnel.
Â
Six:
I would be lost without my day planner. I’ve used a day planner for nearly 27 years. I need the notebook type of planner. I tried a few different digital planners, but they just don’t do it for me.
Â
Seven:
I love a good road trip! I love to get in the car, know the general direction I’m heading, and go. No map and no set time table. Of course, it takes more money than I have right now to take a trip like that. But when I can… I’m gone. LOL You might find me on route 66 headed toward Chicago.
Â
Eight:
I’m thankful I have my children and grandchildren. Of course you probably know that. But did you know DH and I talked about how many children we wanted before we were married, and we thought twelve (I typed it out so you’d know it’s not a typo) children would be a nice size family. Can you imagine?! When we had four, we thought we are done. When our 4th child (Brandon) was a toddler, I sold the baby clothes, & baby furniture; I sold the last tiny t-shirt, and receiving blankets. Yep. SURPRISE! That’s when God blessed us with Drew. After he was born, we knew we wanted one more. I’m thankful God blessed us with six… my kids are such blessings to me.
Okay, I tag, and look forward to reading your 8 things: Gale, Mrs.Martin, Sabriena, Mary, Dana, Kay, Jeani, & Brandy Â

So fun to read about you!! I never knew you lived on a farm!! I sooo don't like critters, but I like the idea of farm life..hehe
Thanks for tagging me and I'll play along today.. I hope..LOL
Chicago? Wow! That is neat. I used to be a morning person, I'm not sure what happened. I've always wanted to raise my family in the country on a farm. Maybe some day...I'll play along too. Maybe today.
I love the walking to local downtown eats and museums Cyndi, something that raising a large family doesn't lend itself to. LOL But fun to think about for sure. And I am glad you like your curly hair now, cuz it is so cute.
I posted my 8 random facts already, so now I need to run the errands, I should have already ran. LOL But it was too fun. Thanks for tagging me.
Love the farm, and road trip aspiration and envy your early-morningness ;) great eight
that was was Kim, btw ... it is late, I am tired from waiting at work for Barry Bonds to hit his home run .. I am beginning not to like him either ;)
Mary, yeah, farm girl here, critters and all LOL
Gale, I know, Chicago! Downtown Seattle would be my next choice if it weren't for children and the other ifs in my life.
Teresa, I know, the city life is fun to think about, but I'm so happy with my kids in the country.
Kim, thanks! I thought how funny! All that waiting late night and Barry is still a no-go on the home run record. Thanks for tagging me! It has been a lot of fun reading my friends lists.
