The Athletic Hick

My youngest son was kidding around about putting his letter on his carhartt jacket instead of a letterman's jacket. Just so ya know, I shook my head. That's just not gonna happen but I did laugh. It's just so his style.

He's so different from his older brothers and sister. They lettered in track in their freshman year. The boys were all in baseball, wrestling, and even football.  Later they all lettered in band too. Whoa... did I just say that? They earned a letter for band?

Remember when a letterman's jacket was for an athlete. Anywho.... they were each so proud to be the first in their HS class to be sporting around letterman's jackets... and for a sports letter!  

I remember a couple different times I took a kid or two or three to the mall or grocery store with me. They were going to leave their jacket in the car. I said, hey! I earned that jacket! You'll be wearing it into the store with me. If you are a mom with a kid in sports you know what I'm talking about! You earned that jacket your kid is sporting around with all his awards and stripes stitched so neatly in place.

We practically lived in our vehicle during sports seasons and that was basically year round for our family. Maybe we are all just hicks... living out of our car during the sports season. Doesn't matter... he's not going to tack his letter to a carhartt.
