History Class - the Scrapbook Project

When I was homeschooling the kids, I did a lot of hands on teaching. If we were studying the sea life of the puget sound, what better way to learn about it, than to go to the source and learn from a marine biologist... get up close and personal with the sea cucumbers and starfish. If we were studying the Oregon trail... take a road trip and follow the trail, with pens, journals, and a camera. If we were learning about life on a wagon train, by all means, spend some time out on horse back, wash a load of clothes on the washboard by the creek, and cook dinner over an open fire.

The history teacher at our high school has out done himself with some great projects this year. For instance, they played a stock market game, and if they lost everything, they received an F on the project. T-man came out ahead in that game.
