Well, it has been a long, wonderful weekend here in our home. Brandon and Amber came in on Thursday morning. We packed a lot into the few short days the kids were here. Our weekend was a whirlwind of food, family, brethren, and more food.
We had snow when they arrived, and it was snowing when they left. But it wasn't all snowy the entire time they were here. Friday in Seattle was beautiful clear blue skies. They have some amazing photos from the top of the space needle.
We left for the airport about 9:00 this morning, so we could have a leisurely breakfast with the kids before they took their flight home. When we left, there was a little surface snow and a few flakes were falling. The roads were clear for the most part, as we headed to the airport. When we dropped the kids off, the snow was coming down lightly. Within a couple minutes, the snow was coming down really hard.
We talked to Lisa. She had gone to the grocery store. Blizzard conditions in her neighborhood. She couldn't get home because roads were closed.
Closer to home, we had a little trouble getting up the first hill. Slip sliding along. We made it okay. Kevin wasn't worried too much. We had chains in the trunk. But as we came up to our big hill, there was no way. There was a 4 wheel drive slip sliding away... right into the ditch. We eventually turned around and were headed to take Mom home. Then we figured we better go get Taylor. There was no way the bus would make it up the hills, so we headed back to the school. Big trucks and 4 wheel drive vehicles were all over the road... It seemed more like bumper cars on the hills.
We eventually made it back home. We have mom with us. We didn't even attempt to go back to her town.
So we are sitting here all cozy and warm by the fireplace when Brandon texted us to say.... I'm still in Seattle. I laughed. I want to go get him, but I figure about the time we get down there, the blizzard conditions will be cleared up and all flights will be a go.
It was a wonderful weekend and I'm so thankful we had the kids here for a time. Lord willing, I look forward to seeing them in June!

I'm glad that you had a nice weekend. My mom drove through some snow (light flurries) on the way to the airport yesterday. I went to IKEA and stayed there until their flight left. Just in case. Then I went home and crawled into bed and didn't know anything else until about 3 hours later. I've had this lingering cold for going on 2 weeks now. Lookiing forward to the day I wake up and it is gone.
I am so glad for you wonderful week end.
Thanks, we managed to pack a lot of wonderful little memories into a few short days.
I'm glad you enjoyed their visit. I'm not sure what Amber you are talking about, or if I even know her? Hm.
Hmm... I'm really not sure either. She is a really sweet young woman with a love for the Lord. I'll have to email ya, because I'm not comfortable posting personal info here.
