My dear uncle, my mom's oldest brother, passed away first thing this Christmas morning. My mom has been staying with us for the past couple of nights, because we are sort of snowed in, so she was with us when we got the phone call.
We had our Christmas party with Aaron and his family on Tuesday night. Aaron's big 4 wheel drive rig got stuck in our driveway Tuesday night. It took at least 30 minutes for the boys to get it un-stuck. They ended up parking way up at the end of the driveway at the neighbor's house. The problem is our driveway is an up hill-down hill - up hill with a curve in the down hill - up hill. Confused? Yeah. Well, just know this. It's slick and our car is still stuck in the same place it was last week.
It has snowed pretty much non-stop since Tuesday night. Although, it hasn't piled up as much as one might think. We only had 17" on the back deck this morning. Anyway, I'm staying home today. I'm not spending Christmas with any of my grand kids. Mom is here though... so she is with family.
On a brighter note. My cousin's husband is on his way home from war. He'll be home some time this evening. I'm excited for her and all their little children.

P.S. Sorry about your uncle. I'll keep your family in my prayers for as long as I can remember to!
That's wonderful! War is a horrible evil.
Too bad he got stuck! Uncle John had to get a good run at their driveway in his four wheel drive truck, too (well, at least I think it was that vehicle - I didn't see it, A. Laurie just told Mom and she told us). Fortunately, he took the tractor to it before we came, so it wasn't that bad for us.
Are you guys going to be here for the funeral Friday?

Neena, it is wonderful for my cousins family to have their military man back home for a couple of weeks. He's been shipped off to this war several times through the years. To have him home with his family is quite a blessing for them.
I wonder how the snow is down your way. We still have several inches of snow in the yard, and several inches of slushy ice and snow in the driveway. Kevin did get our car out of the driveway though!
JoAnn, we won't be there. I'm not up to travelling and my mom is staying with me. Chris and Brandon are talking about going, but it depends on if they can get the time off. Last time I talked to Brandon, he said he probably couldn't get the time off. I understand Uncle Phil and some of his children may be there.
