Well... Brandon has packed up his belongings. We'll have dinner with him tonight, then he heads out for a new stage in his young life...
For the past few weeks, we've known this day was coming. It doesn't matter. I'm not prepared for it. Is there any way to prepare yourself for this moment when your kids move thousands of miles away?
I'm not the only mom going through this today...
Chels flew out this morning. She's probably already landed. AJ is headed the same direction... Brandon and AJ will travel together... in their own vehicles. But at least, they aren't headed out on this long road trip alone.
It really is a gray day. Not only is it rainy and gray outside... I feel it all through my house today.

Where is he going? I'm sorry, my mother heart aches with yours. I hope this new stage in his life is abundant with joy and action. We really like Brandon.
Gale, thank you. You'd think it might get easier as each child steps out on his own... but it doesn't. It's funny, I know a few moms who couldn't wait for their children to get out. The whole idea of "you're 18, it's time to move out" just doesn't work for me. I am happy he's headed out on his own, but I really wish he wasn't so far from home. He's called a few times, so I like to think he's homesick LOL Not really. I want him to be happy and not be homesick. I really don't want him to worry too much about me. I know that weighs on his mind.
He's headed East... thinking about living near Chris & Jennifer. However, right now he's in Wyoming for the big ski weekend.
