My holiday to-do list is super long this year. I'm trying to stick with my flylady daily plan and zones, but I missed a couple days. It feels totally overwhelming. I know, my holiday season is about family and our faith... not about how clean and decorated my house is. But I don't feel comfortable entertaining my family in a bunch of clutter and un-doneness.
Here's a list of things I must do to get ready for Thanksgiving:
- clean and organize living room
- arrange living room so the Christmas tree fits
- clean and de-clutter dining room
- wash the Thanksgiving dishes
- check the linens for the Thanksgiving table
- declutter and toss junk from downstairs family room
- clean and organize downstairs
- plan out Thanksgiving dinner - basically done since I use the same menu every year with a few exceptions here and there as tastes change
- shop for groceries for Thanksgiving dinner
- finish Kitchen zone today (flylady)
Here's a list of things I must do to get ready for Christmas:
- Decorate for Christmas - tree trimming party
- Wash the holiday dishes - Christmas
- Exchange the mugs in the kitchen for Christmas season
- Check linens for Christmas table
- Plan Christmas dinner - who - what's on the menu(s) - where
- Christmas shopping completed - this would be good to get done before Christmas.
- Wrap gifts... again... this would be good to get done before Christmas.
- Plan who's sleeping where for the 2 weeks while the kids are all home for the holidays
- Clean the boys rooms...
- toss tons of clutter to junk and 2nd hand stores
Oh you should see the list of things I want to get done... it's huge. Of course I know I'll probably get only about half of my want-to-do list done.
I know I've missed a thing or two I must get done... my list is flexible

Ahh the lovely holiday list :) I have a love/hate relationship with those! That isabout the only time of the year I make lists, except dinner lists.
I love flylady too! I rarely follow her advice to the letter because when I get going in a zone I hate to stop after 15 min. but I love the inspiration it gives me to get moving!
I love lists. Seems like even if I don't accomplish everything, at least I accomplished more than I would have without one. Your lists are loooong. Hope you accomplish most.
Connie, I can't hardly deal with the flylady email list. All that checking email every few minutes was annoying beyond words. You can't tell it by looking at my house now days, but I joined flylady's group back in the beginning. Oh if I had just stuck with the plan... lol
Gale, I love lists too. I love checking things off my lists! And like you, I might not get everything done, but at the end of the day I can see what I did and I know I didn't waste an entire day doing nothing.
On my old blog I use to post my lists very often... it always helped me get things done. I might start doing that again. Time will tell.
