Baking and Cooking up a Storm

I found a bread pudding recipe I wanted to try. I have never, ever.... not once... tasted bread pudding, and I don't intend to try it now. 47 years without bread pudding... I don't need to try something that makes me feel ill to even think about it. But I know my FIL likes it, so I bought the ingredients I needed and I was all excited to bake something new.

I also have a beautiful batch of Amish bread starter and today is suppose to be the day I make the loaves of friendship bread. My boys love the sugary cinnamon friendship bread, and you can just imagine how wonderful my home smells when I have baked cinnamon bread. Mmmmm..... I feel like such a good homemaker after a day of baking.

Last night, one of our neighbors warned me of a storm blowing in, oh no. High winds... do I need to remind you of the chance of our power going out during a wind storm?

Not the best photo of Brandon, but you can see the power lines and the trees...  yeah. So I thought I'd get up early and get my baking done before the storm.

So I separate the Amish starter and have it ready to give out to my friends. I usually gather all my ingredients and then start the mixing process. Not today. No... in my rush, I start stirring in sugar, and cinnamon... hmmm. Olive oil? Not generally for my baking, but I seem to be out of canola and vegetable oil. Rather than use olive oil, I substitute melted butter. Then I go to the refrigerator to get the eggs. Say what?! No eggs! Oh no. No eggs and no car. My baking is a no go today. I look over my other recipes... eggs... eggs... eggs...

So much for my well planned grocery list.

The day is  not lost. I have a pot roast in the oven and the scent of cinnamon and spice fills my home... thanks to Yankee candle company.

Your last post about T-man's
situation irritated me. We had a weird run in with the principals office before and it still irritates me when I think about it today...lol I am all about discipline (when there is a problem), but a lot of times there isnt a problem but they still treat the kids unfairly for no better reason than they didnt know what else to do....grrrr

I love bread pudding. When you make it...you absolutely MUST try it!

I have had too many days when I began a recipe and was missing one thing before. Too many times to count. I try to make sure I have it all first, too, but it doesnt always work out that way. At least you had something in the house smelling good...pot roast and Yankee candle to boot! lol

Trina, I agree with you, I'm all about dicipline wihen there is a problem. It irritates me... hopefully the principal and everyone involved will handle the next situation that comes up in a better suited manner.

I thought about running up to the neighbor's to borrow eggs. Drew came home early due to the storm. He brought eggs home, so bread pudding is in the oven. I may taste it... we'll have to see lol

Oh and the house smells so yummy right now...

You are so funny. Smells like cinnamon thanks to the candle! I hope your bread turned out good after you got your eggs. The trees are beautiful, even though they are dangerous, and Brandon looks happy.
