Wonderful Day

Today is my aunts birthday. It was her first birthday without my uncle... We certainly didn't want her to spend the day alone, so my mom, another aunt, T-man, and I all went out to lunch, then spent the afternoon just hanging out. Our lunch was long and relaxing. We ate at an Oriental buffet. Good food! Waaaay too much of it!

Tonight after meeting we had a birthday party gathering with everyone. T-man picked just about a gallon of blackberries, so I made a blackberry crisp. Oh, I know... blackberry cobler is yummy. But my grandma generally made crisp... mmmmmmm... yummy! So I made a crisp and Lisa made a pretty cake. We sat around visiting fairly late, considering it is a work night, but it was a really good time.

My aunt got a little teary a few times. Fifty plus years married, this is her first birthday without him. I imagine it was more difficult than she let us see.

I'm glad I didn't let my busy schedule keep me from enjoying a day with my aunts, my mom, and my youngest kiddo... a day that ended with the brethren. It was an all around wonderful day.
