Give Me Something To Say

The other day Kevin and I were talking about the funerals. As we were driving down the road Kevin reminded me of what Brother Marty has said many times. "Give me something to say..."

I asked Kevin if I were to pass away right now, what would the preacher say at my funeral. He gave it a little thought then said they would talk about how much I've suffered the past few years and I live by faith. I said "that's pathetic" Is that the best a preacher could come up with as far as my life is concerned? Someone's who's suffered and lives by faith...

At the funeral Uncle Phil talked about how he went to Uncle a couple years ago and told him... You need to make some changes in your life. Give me something to work with.  Give me something to say when I stand before you at your funeral.

I listened.

Okay so I've suffered a bit the last few years. I need to make some changes so the preacher can see there is more to me than that. I want to be remembered as a loving wife, daughter, mom, grandma, sister in Christ. I want to be remembered as a woman of virtue, and a home open to hospitality, a woman with charity and love in her heart for those around and about her.

Hopefully I have time to give the preacher who stands before my family something to say.

Nothing like a funeral to get you thinking. I was just reading about the virtous woman this morning. Thinking how dreadfully I fail, wanting to be better, determining to be better. I haven't been around you much, but I'm sure they could come up with more than that you've suffered a lot in the past few years. All of your life has not been in the past few years! Never hurts to improve ourselves though. Thanks for the encouraging comment.
