Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday evening the kids called from somewhere in Texas. They had stopped in Moore or Norman Oklahoma at a Wal-Mart. They were shopping for diapers when they heard a siren of sorts. It didn't take long to realize it was a tornado siren going off. Our darling daughter said they evacuated the store. Now how smart is that? Tornado sirens are blaring and they evacuate everyone to the parking lot... fend for yourself. Well, the kids are okay. I was not happy they were out and about in tornado weather.

I don't understand why they live in tornado alley. The in-laws don't understand us living where there is the threat of an earthquake. I'm like... we have earthquakes every few years. You have tornados every few days. But they argue at least they have warnings about the tornados. Good point. But it’s not good enough for me. Hurry up and finish school then get yourselves out here to Washington.

Sometime Friday evening my dryer quit working. It's not as bad as having the washing machine quit, but it's bad enough! I called to have it serviced. They are booked out to mid-April. I was like ohNO!  I was about to settle for the first available appointment in mid-April when the guy on the other end of the phone said he had an unexpected opening for Saturday. Someone cancelled their Saturday appointment while I was on the phone! Would that work? You know it would work! I'd make it work.

Bright and early Saturday morning... not too bright and early. Somewhere around 9ish... the repairman comes out and looks at the dryer. He has to order parts. Still no dryer for a couple weeks. Oh well... at least it's not mid-April and then another couple weeks on top of that!

We celebrated my father-in-law's birthday on Saturday by going out to an early dinner as a family. He seemed to enjoy our evening. Later that night dear hubby and I went over to the kid’s house and watched Survivor. We didn't have the opportunity to watch it until then. I'm actually not that into it this season. I was happy to play with the baby while everyone else was watching Survivor.

Sunday we had a party at the church with friends and family. My FIL is 85 years old this year. When he was 80 years old we had a really big party for him. At the party dear hubby read off a list of things invented since 1922. It's a long list. Everyone got a kick out of hearing things invented since he was born. For one thing he's older than sliced bread!

We went to bed Sunday night and it was already snowing. What a way to end a weekend!
